Update from Stockport Council about statement from Director of Public Health

Message from Emma Ferguson (Stockport Council)

There’s no Director of Public Health statement this week, as we are reducing the frequency to once a month now we are Living with Covid.

However, latest estimates from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) infection survey suggests that around 1.2 % of the population of the NW would test positive for Covid-19 .In Stockport this equates to around 3,500 people. See the latest published data online.

One Stockport Hub vaccination pop ups have been extended for Saturdays throughout June. There are also clinics during the half term for children and young people on Wednesdays, 1 and 8 June.

This week also sees the start of Volunteers week, One Stockport’s ‘Our Kind of Stockport’ campaign, co-designed with sector 3 and VCFSE groups, will launch to tie in with this week. The campaign will highlight the good things our volunteers have done for the borough whilst encouraging more people to consider volunteering. The One Stockport website has more information. If you could help to share content on your channels and with your workforce that would be great.

Empowered Conversations research study

Message from Siobhan Mckenna (Age UK)

I would like to introduce Cassie, who is coordinating a University of Manchester research study involving informal carers of people living with dementia. The trial investigates the Empowered Conversations communication course, for carers and builds on previous evidence that showed the course helped reduce carer stress and improve communication, within the person’s relationship.

For more information, Cassie can be contacted at cassie.eastham@gmmh.nhs.uk or 0161 358 2505.
