Getting your COVID-19 Booster Vaccinations

You are now eligible for your Covid-19 booster If you are:

- aged 50 and over

- aged 16 and over with a health condition that puts you at high risk from COVID-19

You are eligible for a COVID-19 Booster when you reach six months (182 days) from the date of your second vaccination.

Scientists have already shown that protection from two doses starts to wane after six months, so come forward for yours as soon as you are eligible.

You can find out more information from the NHS Stockport CCG website

Videos around the Covid-19 booster

Watch these videos which explain more about winter vaccinations and why they are so important.

How do I get my booster?

'Stockport residents do not need to call their GP about the flu or COVID-19 booster vaccine. Reducing the number of phone calls they receive helps GP practice staff to respond more quickly to those who need medical help.'

To receive your vaccination:

  1. You will be invited by the National Booking System to use the national website or to call 119 for free to book after six months (you will receive a letter, email or text).
  2. You will be contacted by your local team to book an appointment directly or to invite you to use the National Booking Service.
  3. If you have not been contacted and believe you are eligible you can keep trying the National Booking System, or simply come along to a walk-in session when you reach six months (182 days). You can also visit a walk-in session if you have already been contacted but are experiencing difficulties in using the online booking service.

If you have difficulties communicating or hearing, or are a British Sign Language (BSL) user, you can use textphone 18001 119 or the NHS 119 BSL interpreter service.
