Information

Household support fund

Message from The Stockport Support Hub:

We now have the Household support fund up and running. If you could let your teams know, we (AGEUK) are still offering the same as round 3.

The types of things you can refer people for support with are:

Energy and Water -. The Fund should primarily be used to support energy bills for any form of fuel that is used for the purpose of domestic heating, cooking, or lighting, including oil or portable gas cylinders. It can also be used to support water bills including for drinking, washing, cooking, as well as for sanitary purposes and sewerage.

Food - The Fund can be used to provide support with food, whether in kind or through vouchers or cash.

Essential linked to energy and water - The Fund can be used to provide support with essentials linked to energy and water (for example period products, warm clothing, soap, blankets, the purchase of equipment such as fridges, freezers, ovens, slow cookers), in recognition that a range of costs may arise which directly affect a household’s ability to afford or access energy, food and water.

Wider essentials. The Fund can be used to support wider essential needs not linked to energy and water should Authorities consider this appropriate in their area. These may include, but are not limited to, support with other bills including broadband or phone bills, clothing, and essential transport-related costs such as repairing a car, buying a bicycle, or paying for fuel.

Age UK have also supported people with lots of white goods, boiler repairs, boiler replacement and urgent roofing repairs.

How to make a referral:

A referral needs to go into the Stockport Support Hub, ideally by completing the online form Referral form :: Stockport Support/01614741042 and selecting ‘Carers Support’ if it’s a carer in need or ‘Home Support’ for any other people you are working with.

The hub staff can then send your referral straight through to the right service.

Please mention the need for the Household Support Grant in your referral form and select ‘I am making this referral as a professional’.

Information Prescriptions

Message from Lisa Holland at Diabetes UK:

Can you help us power up our Information Prescriptions?

You may or may not have used them, but since their launch over 6 years ago, our Information Prescriptions have proven to be a powerful consultation tool, helping people with diabetes better understand and engage with their care, encouraging behaviour change and improving health. We’re gathering in-depth insights from healthcare professionals who have used them, and those who haven’t, about how we can ensure they continue to be an effective tool to help you better support your patients living with or at risk of diabetes. Please e-mail healthcare@diabetes.org.uk if you’re happy to contribute your time, around 30 minutes, to help us ensure this valuable resource brings the maximum benefit to those who need it most. We felt it was important to ensure our current Information Prescriptions were clinically up to date as we conduct the in-depth review. Our newest versions are available to download on our webpages, in PDF and Word format, and will make their way onto clinical software over the coming months.
