Information

Local organisation spotlight: Opendoor

Message from Opendoor:

We are open 365 days a year including weekend and Bank holiday days.  We work with people aged 18+.

Open Door is a Mental Health service that was commissioned by NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care as part of the crisis pathway, to provide a safe space for the people of Stockport to access fast and timely support when feeling overwhelmed, stressed and unable to cope. We also provide an alternative to A&E where a non-clinical setting with space to talk to a Recovery Worker is more appropriate. As part of our service offer, we provide Emotional and Listening support, Social Prescribing, Computerized Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, alongside Crisis and Safety Planning. At the weekends we host weekly Wellbeing support and Art Groups at 2pm.

We are made up of a small team of friendly Recovery Workers. Our support is tailored around a person’s needs to help them through their crisis and move on with a greater sense of resilience. We work with people on a short-term basis however people are welcome to drop back in if they need more support or find themselves in crisis again. As well as a safe space to listen, we can support people who use our service by referring them into services for professional support or guidance. This may include longer term support, for example counselling or support around Domestic Violence. We also offer signposting to agencies who can help with benefits or form filling. We offer foodbank vouchers to support with the cost-of-living crisis.

If you would like a spotlight on your organisation then please send a description of your organisation to info@healthwatchstockport.co.uk and include 'spotlight' in the subject.

COVID-19 and flu vaccinations

Message from NHS England:

From Monday 11 September residents of older adult care homes and those most at risk including those who are immunosuppressed will receive their COVID-19 vaccination first.

Carers, pregnant women, and health and social care staff will all be among the groups to be offered a COVID-19 vaccination this winter, as well as adults aged 65 and over.

Eligible people should wait to receive an invite from their local provider.

From 18 September, the NHS will start to invite people in priority order of risk and those eligible will be able to book an appointment on the National Booking Service.

Originally planned to start in October, vaccinations have been brought forward in line with the latest expert guidance on the new COVID-19 variant BA.2.86.
