Learning Disability Week 2025: Do You See Me?

Learning Disability Week running from Monday 16 June, is an annual campaign to ensure people with a learning disability are seen, heard, and valued. This year's national theme is 'Do you see me?', highlighting the importance of their inclusion in all aspects of life, here in Stockport.

People with a learning disability, like everyone else, have hopes, dreams, and talents. Did you know only 26.7% of adults with a learning disability are employed, yet 86% of unemployed people with a learning disability want a paid job?

The 'Do you see me?' theme ensures people with a learning disability are visible in our communities and are involved in decisions that affect them. It’s about recognising their contributions and giving them equal opportunities – to learn, work, form relationships, stay healthy, and be active in their community. Ultimately, it's about having a voice and making their own choices.

Mencap is a leading national organisation supporting people with a learning disability. Find more about their work and the 'Do you see me?' campaign at: www.mencap.org.uk/learningdisabilityweek.
