Volunteers’ Week 2025 – a UK-wide celebration!

Running every year since 1984, the week provides a crucial opportunity to thank volunteers and recognise the value of their time, passion and skills. The campaign highlights the diversity and unity of volunteer work across the UK.
Thank you to our volunteers!
This Volunteers’ Week we're celebrating and saying a massive thank you to our amazing volunteers/members - all of whom continue to help us make a difference to health and social care across Stockport. To us, they are key members of our Healthwatch Stockport family and have been instrumental in helping us get closer to our community, better understand your experiences, shape our work and local health care services.
Volunteering for Healthwatch offers many benefits, from helping your local community to giving you a chance to use your skills to help people.
Maria Kildunne, Chief Officer of Healthwatch Stockport, said, "We depend on volunteers like you to ensure the voice of those living and working in Stockport can be heard. People’s experiences are at the heart of all we do, and it is people like you who choose to volunteer that make such a difference and help us achieve the biggest impact in our work."

What is Volunteers' Week?
Volunteers’ Week is led by the UK Volunteering Forum, a partnership between Volunteer Scotland, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA) and Volunteer Now in Northern Ireland.
The UK Volunteering Forum said: “Volunteers bring a richness to organisations across the country. There is no better time to recognise the diversity of our volunteers and celebrate the difference that volunteering makes than during Volunteers’ Week. Without volunteers many charities just simply could not function, with so many people giving up their time and going above and beyond. The week is a chance for all of us to show just how vital they are to charities and communities everywhere.”
