This bank holiday Easter weekend there is help and advice available for health issues including minor illnesses.

GP practices in Stockport will be closed on Good Friday,15 April, 2022, and Easter Monday, 18April, 2022, with local pharmacies opening on a rota basis.

Some pharmacies will be open on Good Friday and Easter Sunday with specific opening times. The rota is available on the Greater Manchester Local Pharmaceutical Committee’s website at:

There’s lots of advice available for common ailments if you need it over the Easter weekend.

If you have a medical need, go online to 111.nhs.uk or call NHS 111 first, just dial 111, and you will be directed to the most appropriate service to use. It's free to call from any mobile or landline and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If your condition is serious, or a life threatening emergency, call 999 immediately or go to your nearest emergency department.

Don’t forget if you have a regular prescription, make sure you have enough medication to last the Bank Holiday weekend.

Phil Winrow, Vice Chair of NHS Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group, said:

“It is important that people know where they can get help over the Easter weekend. NHS 111 is quick and easy to use, by either going online or calling 111. You will be directed to the best place to get the help you need. Many minor ailments can be managed at home through self-care, so make sure you have the basics, such as paracetamol, in a cupboard.

“Remember, if you or a family member has a regular prescription please make sure they have enough medication for over the Easter.”
