The Big Conversation

The NEW Greater Manchester Integrated Partnership would like to understand what matters most to people and communities in Greater Manchester to make sure a new five-year plan reflects the health and care needs of local people and communities.

They want to understand what matters most to you to help them shape the priorities and actions for the plan.

Throughout October 2022, each local borough is talking to local people. Please tell us what matters most to you by answering these four questions;

  • What would make the biggest difference to your life in relation to healthier choices?
  • What enables you to make healthier choices?
  • What prevents you from making healthier choices?
  • What improvement should be prioritised for health and social care services?

What is the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership (ICP)?

In July 2022 Greater Manchester’s Integrated Care Partnership was established.  The partnership brings together all the different organisations which support people’s health and care.

Members of the Partnership come from all ten boroughs within Greater Manchester, including all NHS organisations, councils, organisations from across the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sectors and Healthwatch as well as others, all working together to help achieve a shared vision.

The partnership will work with people and communities to create an integrated care strategy (five-year plan).

Greater Manchester ICP Five Year Plan

The five-year plan will address the health and care needs of the population across Greater Manchester.  It will include actions to

  • Improve health
  • Reduce inequalities in health outcomes,
  • Improve experience
  • Provide better access to services

Help us today by answering these short 4 questions, all the data will be anonymous.

Public confidence in urgent care services

Message from Healthwatch England

To help the NHS better prepare for winter pressures, we wanted to understand pubic confidence in urgent and emergency care. Thanks to your local insight and wider polling, we found:

  • 68% believe they will receive high quality care from their emergency department
  • 41% do not trust that they will receive care within a reasonable time

Read our findings in full, as well as what this means for services going forward.

More than half of people with chronic and long-term conditions not asked to feed back about their care

Message from Healthwatch England

Our latest findings show that people with chronic and long-term health conditions often miss out on giving their feedback about care. As part of the Because We All Care campaign, we are working with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to change this.

The first day of Baby Loss Awareness Week

Message from Sands - Stillbirth and neonatal death charity

Today marks the start of Baby Loss Awareness Week, where people in the UK and across the globe will join together as a community to remember our babies, raise awareness and drive for change. Now in its 20th year, we have an alliance of over 130 baby loss charities that will come together to remember and commemorate our much-loved babies.

During the week, our social media channels will be filled with ways you can get involved, opportunities for you to share your story, and a chance for us all to remember our babies together, so please follow us and become part of our community. The week will end with the global 'Wave of Light' at 7pm on Saturday 15th, where we'll be hosting a Facebook live for everyone to tune in for an hour and remember our babies together.

This year’s Baby Loss Awareness Week theme 'Stepping Stones’, acknowledges how each parent or family will take different steps in their grief journey, large or small, some harder than others. But the whole alliance is here to support you along the way. We'd love for you to take a step with us; find out how you can get involved.

Health and Digital Literacy Survey 2022

Message from Patient Information Forum

PIF has launched its Health and Digital Literacy Survey 2022 to see what progress has been made in these crucial areas since the pandemic.

Our last Health and Digital Literacy Survey, carried out in October 2019, found only 13% of organisations had a health literacy policy in place.

Just 50% assessed the equalities impact of digital projects.

Now, we are launching an updated survey to see if health information providers have heeded our call to become health and digital literacy friendly.

PIF director Sophie Randall said: “Our 2019 data provided a benchmark of how organisations were responding to the challenges of health and digital literacy pre-COVID-19.

“Completing the survey now will help us discover if the lessons of the last three years have been translated into long term action on these areas.”

The survey should take 5-10 minutes to complete.

All respondents will have the option to be entered into a draw to win a £50 Amazon voucher.
