Social care interview picture

Healthwatch is undertaking a project focused on examples of people not getting the right help when they need social care support.

We are working with other local Healthwatch across the country to do a series of interviews with people, who feel overlooked or underserved by the current social care system. We want to understand the impact this has on your life.

We are doing these interviews to support us in arguing for improvements to the social care system. We know that the current system leaves many people feeling they do not get the support they need. Being able to show the real experiences of people like you will help us make a more powerful argument for a better social care system. We are particularly interested if you pay for your own social care but are struggling to cover the costs, but we are interested in all experiences.

We are able to offer up to 10 people  £100 each to take part in this research.

What will taking part involve?

Someone from Healthwatch will have an in-depth conversation with you. This will cover your current situation and life in general, as well as specific past experiences and general thoughts on the social care system. The person speaking to you will record the interview, so they can be sure they are accurately capturing what you are saying but you will remain anonymous.

What happens to the information you provide?

We will create a transcript of your conversation. This is simply a written note of what you said, so that we can be sure we have an accurate record of your experiences and opinions. This transcript will only be seen by your local Healthwatch and Healthwatch England.

How do I take part?

Please contact the office before the 1st of March 2023 and we will arrange a date to meet with you.

We are excited to be working on this project along with other local Healthwatch across the country. Locally, we have decided that social care is one of the main areas we need to focus on, and this will be receiving our full attention over the course of the next 12 months. If you feel you can share your experience with us to help improve services, please contact the office where one of the members of staff will be happy to assist you.
