Homelessness and Housing Services

Advice Now

We are a UK based not-for-profit organisation and charity. Collaboration and partnership lies at the heart of what we do so that people can access their rights, challenge unfair decisions, and fight for change.

Use our step-by-step guides to work out if the council will class you as homeless, what your options are, and how to get the accommodation you are entitled to.

You do not have to be living on the streets to be considered homeless. As well as sleeping rough, you might be classed as homeless if you are sofa-surfing, staying with a friend temporarily, staying in a hostel, or sleeping in your car. Even being in overcrowded housing may mean you meet the definition of homelessness.

You are entitled to somewhere safe and suitable to live. But councils are under a lot of pressure and the process for getting help from them can be complicated.

EGG- Engage, Grow, Go

EGG- Engage, Grow, Go is a Manchester and Stockport-based charity, offering support and services to people with experience of homelessness across Greater Manchester. Our approach is different to many other charities. Our process looks at the long-term solution, supporting people off the streets, into their own homes and work or self-employment.

EGG stands for Engage Grow Go; this is not just a snappy tag line but its the whole ethos of the organisation. We aim to have positive Engagement with people who have experience of homelessness, to support them in a period of Growth. We use intensive support planning tools and action plans. We aim to support each EGG client to reach their Go, what every that Go may be, but usually its employment, housing or starting a new business.
