NHS Stockport spending £2 millon a year on medicines that most patients could have bought themselves without a prescription
NHS Stockport CCG is looking to understand why patients get prescriptions for medicines they could easily buy themselves from pharmacies and other stores.
Currently in Stockport the NHS spends over £2 million a year on medicines, which patients could have bought themselves without a prescription. It costs the NHS far more for this medicine than it would have cost the patient to buy directly because the NHS is charged for each prescription as well as the medicine.
