POLL OF THE WEEK

Know Your Numbers Week

Do you know your blood pressure numbers?

If you have answered 'No' to this week's poll please try and find your numbers out this week. We believe that prevention is the best course of action and there is many ways that you can get your numbers checked.

If you want to come to one of our coffee mornings, afternoon teas or one of our information sessions to learn more about Healthwatch, we can also  measure your blood pressure! All you have to do is contact us and we can provide a blood pressure reading for you.

This week Stockport Council also have a team that will measure your blood pressure for you. See below for more details

The Council's friendly team will measure your blood pressure, no appointment needed, and then, depending on your reading, can advise you on how to make any changes to your lifestyle to help lower your blood pressure and beat this silent killer.

The team will be at the following venues:

Tuesday 6 September
Great Moor Library, 12 Gladstone Street, SK2 7QF from 12pm to 1pm

North West Pre-Hospital Critical Care Charity

Message from Jan Kitching (Lived Experience Panel member)

The North West Pre-Hospital Critical Care Charity provides volunteer responders who attend serious medical and trauma incidents alongside the Ambulance Service. They bring advanced skills to those in need. These skills may include pre-hospital anesthesia or surgical skills.  The Charity does not receive any NHS funding and is funded by grants, donations and via their lottery. The team have recently expanded to cover a wider area.

I have no connection with the charity apart from we have a husband and wife responder and fundraiser living in my local community.  They are a fantastic example of committed NHS staff and have responded several times with our local defibrillator helping local residents.
